The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) arrested 37 individuals during targeted law enforcement operations conducted across various parts of Tshwane on 26 and 27 June 2026. The operations focused primarily on drunk driving and pedestrian safety.

According to TMPD, Region 6 Sector 1 officers carried out a drunk-driving operation on 26 June at Solomon Mahlangu Drive and Shilovhane Street in Mamelodi. The operation resulted in the arrest of six suspects for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.

A similar enforcement operation was conducted the following day by region 2 Sector 2 members along the northern corridor. During this operation, 13 individuals were arrested, with 11 facing charges related to driving under the influence and two arrested for allegedly consuming alcohol in public.

In another operation conducted at the N4/N1 off-ramp, TMPD’s Freeway and Pedestrian Unit teams stopped and inspected several vehicles during a joint road safety campaign. Six additional suspects were arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of intoxicating substances.

The operations also targeted pedestrian-related public safety concerns. TMPD Pedestrian Unit members arrested 12 undocumented immigrants at several locations, including the N4 and Solomon Mahlangu Drive areas.
