Marcia Ramodike (24) from Mamelodi launched her second edition book on 1 May 2021 called “From An Empty Pride To A Full Price” after it was released on the 22nd March 2021.
Ms Ramodike said her book is about black tax, an issue that affects a lot of young black people and graduates who have to support their families when they start working. The book however encourages the youth to improve the economy and country and to give back to their communities.
“I want to demonstrate to young people that we can change our home situations by giving back to our communities and that life is not a competition, you don’t have to be under pressure and buy expensive things to impress friends,” she said.
Ms Ramodike said Ubuntu through black tax should be the future of our generation.
“When my mother passed on at the age of 18, I was unemployed and had to take care of my siblings with the help of my grandparents. That is when I realized that giving back at home can change lives and make a difference,” she said.
She said her book is aimed at the youth who are most affected by the black tax and since most of the youth consider it a burden.
