The Executive Mayor, Cllr Randall Williams, joined by the MMC for Community Safety, Alderman Karen Meyer, unveiled a new Mamelodi fire station, which will begin operations in the coming month to serve residents in Region 6 areas, such as Mamelodi and Nellmapius.
Mamelodi is one of the largest townships in Tshwane that is surrounded by many informal settlements where flooding and fires often occur.
Cllr Williams said the new emergency services station will afford the City the opportunity to respond promptly and without delays to emergency calls in the surrounding areas.
“The City of Tshwane will continue to strive for excellence in the way we capacitate our emergency services, which is considered to be one of the strongest departments in the country. It will always remain a priority for us to keep our residents safe,” he said
