The Mamelodi Magistrates’ Court has denied bail to a 38-year-old Mamelodi East man accused of the premeditated murder of two cousins and several related charges.
Tebogo Mnisi, from Extension 17 in Mamelodi East, is facing two counts of premeditated murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of unlawful ammunition.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the incident allegedly occurred during the early hours of 26 October 2025 at Small Konka Tavern in Mamelodi East. The accused allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend, Tshiyamo Sweetness Moramaga (22), and her cousin, Boleseng Mirandah Moramaga (21). A third victim, Desmond Semang (27), survived the shooting after an alleged attempted murder.
The accused was arrested the following day at a garage on Solomon Mahlangu Drive after police investigations.
During bail proceedings, the defence requested release on R2 000 bail, arguing that the accused supports his children and mother and that his business had been negatively affected while he remains in custody.
State Prosecutor Advocate Tsheko Mphake opposed the application, citing the seriousness of the charges and concerns that the accused could interfere with witnesses, evade trial, and pose a risk to public order.
In delivering judgment, the court agreed with the State’s arguments and found that releasing the accused could undermine public confidence in the justice system. The court also noted insufficient proof regarding claims about his business and family responsibilities.
Bail was denied, and the matter was postponed to 20 July 2026 pending the outcome of the ballistic report.
