A pedestrian was rushed to hospital with severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Nellmapius on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred at around 08:00 on September 4, leaving a man with serious head injuries and heavy bleeding.
Spokesperson for the Pretoria Volunteer Emergency Services (PVES), Etienne Van Rooyen, said emergency teams were dispatched after receiving reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a light motor vehicle.
Mr Van Rooyen said when the first practitioner arrived on the scene, the man was already receiving help. Security officers from ProShield and Equestria Security were on site, providing first aid and assisting to control the bleeding.
The PVES practitioner then took over patient care, carrying out further assessment, stabilising the patient and continuing with bleeding control until the arrival of Gauteng Emergency Services.
Due to the serious nature of his injuries, the patient was transported by Gauteng Emergency Medical Services to the hospital for urgent medical treatment.
Mr Van Rooyen thanked all emergency stakeholders who assisted on the scene, including Gauteng Emergency Medical Services, ProShield Security and Equestria Security, for their swift response and cooperation.
TMPD has not yet issued a specific statement on this Nellmapius incident; they are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collusion.
