Residents of Mamelodi and other communities in Tshwane Region 6 are being urged to store water and use it sparingly ahead of major maintenance work scheduled by Rand Water and Eskom later this month.

The planned maintenance, set to take place from 29 May to 2 June 2026, will involve critical work on the Palmiet and Zuikerbosch water systems, which supply large parts of Gauteng. According to the City of Tshwane, the work may result in reduced water pressure and possible outages in several areas, including Mamelodi.

The City has warned that reservoirs supplying Region 6 could experience declining water levels during the four-day maintenance period, increasing the risk of temporary water interruptions if consumption remains high.

Areas expected to be affected include Mamelodi East, Mamelodi West, Eersterust, Waltloo, Silverton and surrounding communities. Residents are encouraged to store sufficient water for essential household needs before the maintenance begins and to limit non-essential water use during the shutdown.

The City of Tshwane has advised residents to monitor its official communication platforms for updates on reservoir levels, water supply status and any emergency relief measures that may be implemented throughout the maintenance period.
