Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Community and Social Development Service at City of Tshwane, Ms Thabisile Vilakaz, visited schools in Winterveld and Mamelodi to handover protective masks to learners and the homeless on the 22nd of February 2021.

Mrs Vilakazi was accompanied by social workers from the City’s Department of Social Development, and to provide referrals and information to some of the learners who were not able to write exams due to not having ID documents.

“The education is not the responsibility of the City, we are still committed to assisting where we can. Therefore, the department officials have requested the details of the child-headed households for them to be assisted through our food bank,” she said.

Winterveld High School Acting Principal, Ms Mokgobo Mokonoto, said the learner, educators, and non-teaching staff were humbled and grateful.

“The school really appreciates City’s efforts. Remember sometimes simplest thing mean the most to others especially our learners” she said.
