An additional measure to enhance teacher vaccinations has been enhanced in the City of Tshwane through a mobile vaccination bus that started its work this past Wednesday, 16 June 2021 with the launch of the educator’s vaccine program.
Currently, the bus is stationed at Liana Hof Teachers centre in Sunnyside. The disaster management bus serves as a mobile vaccination site for educators. Before the mobile vaccination site was activated, the City of Tshwane teams inspected the bus and quality approved it.
The site was identified by the Gauteng Department of Education as acceptable and accessible for teachers in the City. As it is mobile, the vaccination unit can be moved to other sites as per need. The bus is compliant with all necessary requirements, including having air conditioning, fridges, oxygen supply on-board as well as a wheelchair lift to ensure accessibility for the disabled.
To date, 120 vaccines were administered on the first day and the feedback has been positive and for this, we are grateful to our teams,” said the City of Tshwane Mayor, Mr Randall Williams said, who is scheduled to visit the mobile vaccination unit next week.
