The Eye of Hope visited Hope Recovered Centre at Lethabong Informal Settlement in Mamelodi on 18 July 2021 with a mission to celebrate Mandela Day by giving 67 Hampers (#67HampersofHope).

President of the Eye of Hope, Kutloano Malahlela, said, “As an organization, we host frequent community outreach events as part of our community outreach programs.

“The Mandela Day outreach which we titled #67HampersOfHope was hosted by The Eye of Hope with donations received from our sponsors SANBI and Kindness Like Confetti,” he said.

Mr Malahlela said they have noticed that children have been neglected during the Covid-19 pandemic therefore the hampers were used as a token to boost their self-esteem and make them smile again.

“Teens with Vision assisted us with the preparations on the day of the event and also donated funds for transport for our members,” he said.

Neo Cholo who is a Chairperson of Teens with Vision said, “The Eye of Hope have programs that are ongoing for the community, and people may contact them for assistance.

“I am glad because 67 children benefited from the initiative as part of commemorating Mandela Day,” he said.
