The “Pretoria South Lions” bicycle club from Pretoria spent their 67 minutes honoring Mandela Day at J Kekana Secondary School in Mamelodi painting walkways and planting trees.

Jack Mathews, coach of Pretoria South Lions, said Pretoria South Lions decided to get actively involved in enhancing education on a regular basis, going beyond just an annual day of action.

“This day contributes to enhancing the physical setting in which children learn, develop, and realize their full potential. Painting the walls, growing food gardens, or mending furniture all count. Investing in young children is vital for our nation because it allows us to provide an equal chance for every youngster,” he said

Mr Sello Green, the captain of Pretoria South Lions said “Nelson Mandela was speaking to all of us telling us that you don’t need a lot of money to help people. He showed us that even for an hour and seven minutes, we could make a difference by doing good for children and the elderly.

Mr Sandile Msenti of Pretoria South Lions said everyone in the world needs to spend their 67 minutes of free time to accomplish something beneficial.

“I hope everyone made today a good day and will continue to act morally every day,” he said.
