The Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) has arrested two foreign nationals for tampering with essential infrastructure in Lindo Park, east of Pretoria.
The arrests took place on Thursday, 28 August 2026, after private security personnel alerted TMPD officers about a group of men digging up cables along Koedoespoort Road.
According to the TMPD, regional policing members together with private security swiftly responded to the scene and arrested the suspects after a short pursuit.
The suspects, identified as a Zimbabwean and a Mozambican national, were found in possession of Transnet cables and shovels allegedly used in the commission of the offence.
The two men have been detained and will face charges for tampering with essential infrastructure.
In a statement, the TMPD Communication Unit said the department remains determined to ensure the safety and security of the Tshwane community through vigilant and visible policing.
The TMPD has urged residents to report any suspicious activities related to cable theft and damage to essential infrastructure.
The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
