A clean water manhole and leaking pipe at Mamelodi East police station on Marishane Street have been left unattended by the Municipality.

The pipe was alledgely reported countless times to the former Regional Executive Director, Mr Sello Chipu by a community leader who reqeusted to remain anonymous, but since last year, nothing has happened to repair the leaking pipe.

Mr Chipu was replaced by Mr Billy Sepuru earlier this year who said replacement pipes has been ordered and they are still waiting for couplings.

The community leader said Mr Seabelo Marishane who is ANC PR Councilor is also aware about the pipe and he has given excuses that people are dumping waste material at the site and when the tractor collects rubbish it moves the pipe.

“The pipe seems to have been damaged when the pylons were installed,” he said.

The matter was alledgely escalated to the City of Tshwane Chief Administrator, Mr Mpho Napa, with no results.

Water and Sanitation, Acting Director for Region 6, Mr Brian Mashile, said “The repair work is earmarked for next week Thursday as we had to issue a notice of water shut off.

“All requisite material to effect repairs had been procured and available and a notice will be issued on Friday.”

Numerous efforts to get a comment from Mr Seabelo Marishane were not successful.
