The City of Tshwane Health Department embarked on a drive to improve the conditions of Mamelodi West Clinic on 9 July 2022 to enable staff to provide quality services.
Ms Rina Marx, the MMC for Health Health at the City of Tshwane said she has been conducting oversight visits to our municipal clinics to gauge for herself the standard of services as well as the maintenance requirements needed to boost health services.
“So far I have Mamelodi West, Silverton, East Lynn, Phahameng, and Nellmapius in region 6 where I found that facilities manage high numbers of patients daily, and I was impressed with the professionalism of the health workers.
“Many of our clinics are outdated, and it is important to create a conducive environment for health workers and to ensure that there is maintenance and upgrades of municipal clinics.
“An amount of R3.4 million has been spent on maintenance work at the clinics in Mamelodi, Rooihuiskraal, Laudiam, Phahameng, Rosslyn, Lotus Gardens and Olievenhoutbosch. Well maintained clinic infrastructure is part of the evolution criteria for clinics to retain their ideal clinic status”
“Our Municipal clinics have received 20 platinum ratings, three gold ratings and one silver rating during the last ideal clinic assessments, and we want to maintain that record,” she said.
Ms Nosihle Zikalala, the Mamelodi West Clinic Director said she was thankful for the support from the municipality.
“What they did to our branch clinic shows that they believe in us and they want us to keep up our good work.
“This Clinic has a big history and the residents are happy with our service and we will continue the good service. What the department of health has done also encourages us to do more and we appreciate the recognition from the city of Tshwane and the Department of Health” She said.
